Ibibio is spoken by millions across Akwa Ibom and the global diaspora. For many, it is a language they grew up hearing, understanding in fragments, but never learned to speak. Learn Usem was built to change that.

Founded by Etiobot Usuah - a native Ibibio speaker, linguistics specialist, and B.A. holder in Linguistics and Nigerian Languages - Learn Usem delivers expert-led remote lessons that go beyond vocabulary and grammar. Every session is anchored in proverbs, traditions, and cultural context that make the language worth speaking in the first place. Etiobot brings over seven years of experience designing indigenous language curricula, a 95% student success rate within Nigeria's public education system, and over 500 students mentored across academic and language development programmes.

The platform covers Ibibio, Anaang, and Oro languages across two formats: 1-on-1 lessons for learners who want a personalised pace and curriculum, and group classes for those who learn best in community. Cultural resources, bilingual materials, and a WhatsApp learning community sit alongside the formal lessons. Learners range from diaspora adults reconnecting with their roots to parents raising bilingual children and researchers with an interest in West African languages.
